A bit about Who We Are

S3 Interior Design Inc. (the S3 stands for spaces, surfaces & swatches) currently employs 2 designers.

Tracy Dyck (that's me!) and Annie Johnson (my trusted and loyal side-kick).
I graduated from Louisiana State University in 2000 with my Bachelor of Interior Design. After returning to Manitoba in 2001, I began working for a small design company in Winnipeg. In 2003 S3 Interior Design Consulting was born (7 months after the birth of my 2nd daughter.) My intensions were to stay small and work approx 10 hours per week until my girls were in school full-time. However, the business grew (almost as fast as the kids) and my 10 hours per week became 20, then 30, then 40.... By 2007 it was time to expand so along came Annie.

Annie graduated from the UofM Architecture program with her Bachelor of Environmental design. (An undergrad degree that allows her to take a Masters of Architecture if she so chooses.) Annie's interests led her to interiors (very lucky for me) and she has been a valued asset to S3 for the past 2 years. Annie has great strengths in space planning, materials & colour selection, and computer drawings / 3D renderings. She and her fiance, Mike, will be getting married in early 2010.
In January of this year, S3 Interior Design Consulting became S3 Interior Design Inc. We are focusing on commercial and residential design and keeping wonderfully busy. We hope to be moving into our new St.James office this summer.

Up and coming blog topics...

First Time Blogger

Here I go, entering into the world of blogging. "Why?" you ask. (And I ask myself the same thing. Do I have enough hours in the day to add blogging into my schedule?)

The answer... I enjoy what I do and I'm excited about the idea of sharing it with others. Based on the popularity of the many design shows popping up on the tube, I think people are fascinated with the befores, afters and inbetweens of design. I look forward to posting the projects we've done and those we're currently working on. I hope to give a glimpse of the "behind the scenes" reality of taking a project from conception to completion. (It's not all glamorous, it doesn't happen in a week, but it's sure worth it when a plan comes together and the client loves it!)

So read along and wish me luck.
